DIY Foot Soak Recipe

So, in a previous post, I alluded to one of my favorite nighttime activities: the foot soak. Below, you’ll find exactly how I did it so you can do it yourself too!

You will need:

  • dishpan or foot soak bowl big enough to fit both feet
  • a really comfortable seat
  • method of boiling water (I use an electric kettle, but anything will do)
  • Epsom salts
  • at least two liters of cool water (depending upon your temperature preferences)
  • moisturizer of choice (I use coconut oil or baby oil with shea butter)
  • towels (2)
  • foot moisturizer (A+D or LUSH Fair Trade Foot Lotion for me)
  • socks

Schlepping Around

I love purses. I really do and I have found in my very short two decades and change years of life that there are many, many things that a woman should keep in her purse at all times, because we’ve got to be prepared for every situation that life throws our way!

That’s how I am, I’m a woman that believes that prevention and preparation are absolutely key to great days. I mean, granted, you can’t possibly prepare for everything, but feeling somewhat ready for most situations lends to a certain degree of relaxation that I find quite pleasant. Now, please don’t judge me; I’ve already warned you about my slightly anal retentive personality, but if you absolutely must judge me, feel free (as long as you promise to at least try one thing from this post, heh)!

First, the purse: my current summer favorite has been this bright green Longchamp tote given to me by an aunt as a gift.

I know you can’t really see from the picture, but this purse is HUGE and is really my catch-all for all the things I carry around with me. Unique to the Longchamp style, this bag has no interior pockets and is kind of just one cavernous hole to fill with items of your choosing save the small key pocket right under the flap. It’s sturdy, wide at the bottom and is honestly larger than it looks. In addition to my usual, I was in a tight spot and had to shove my laptop, charger and iPad into it and everything was perfect, with room left over!  (more…)

By Way of Introduction

Now that I’ve gotten a few posts under my belt, I think it’s time that I take the time to introduce myself to the blogosphere! Those of you who have already read my About Me page already have a brief idea of what the inside of my brain is like, but in truth, there’s a little more to me than meets the eye!

In the spirit of full disclosure, I’ve decided to do this Q&A style and have formulated some answers from all of you based off of blogs I’ve seen. Don’t worry, I’ll fill in the gaps with fun descriptions; I have a tendency to be long-winded :) (more…)

I (Love)^2 Lettuce

As promised, the first of my LUSH Cosmetics reviews!

As you can probably tell from the title, last night, my sister and I tried their Love Lettuce Fresh Face Mask! In their catalog, the mask is described for use in order to achieve “softer, more balanced skin” and contains almond shells, french lavender, seaweed gel and honey. For $6.95, I received a sizeable pot with a substantial amount of product. Interesting tidbit – the ingredients used are so fresh that LUSH fresh face masks must be kept in the refrigerator in order to maintain the integrity of its ingredients and its freshness.

First and foremost, I adore the packaging of LUSH products. Maybe I’m a minimalist, but I love the simplicity, the eco-friendliness as well as the streamlined look that their packaging affords their customers.

As you can see above, the front face of the packaging states the name of the product, a brief description and lets you know that this is a refrigerated product. (more…)

Off to See the Wizard, The Wonderful Wizard of…

Joe? Yes, Joe. Trader Joe’s!

Who needs Oz when you have two Trader Joe’s in two different neighboring towns? That’s right, I’m a little spoiled up here and I’m really enjoying being back home if only for the insane convenience of having my pick of TJ’s right around town. Today, I went to Trader Joe’s to peruse the merchandise, as many of my close friends and family swear by the TJ skincare regimen. I have always wanted to try their products, but have never had the chance to buy, since I’m always stocked up! Well, as fate would have it, I’ve just run out of my Oil of Olay Sensitive Skin SPF 15 Daily Moisturizer (what a mouthful) and I’m in the market for something new.  (more…)
